Seeking Application Developer for a task at the National Institutes or Health.

The candidate will assist in the design of an image repository that integrates with a clinical database system. The image repository is a large scale effort to bring together stroke data from collaborating sites around the world including the stroke group. The candidate should also have a working knowledge of relational database environments, data mining, image processing, and integration of data sources. They must be able to program the web interfaces designed by the stroke group, implement any necessary processing steps, and format the output to meet the stroke group’s needs.

Requirements include excellent verbal and written communications skills. The candidate will work closely with the project manager and system administrators to deploy or trouble shoot applications or patches.

Required Skills and Expertise:

This project is a high profile one with challenging timelines and a variety of contributors.
Therefore the contractor is expected to be someone that can interact with a variety of people with various skill levels, take direction from the project manager and other programmers including ongoing feedback, but also be independent and self motivated.

A contractor with a minimum of three years experience is required in J2EE\Java with Oracle database technology. In addition the contractor should have experience with image processing, in particular with MRI and/or CT images, and knowledge of DICOM specifics.

Experience with data management or software validation is an additional advantage but not essential. It is required to have technical experience with Windows and Linux. The contractor must have working experience in maintaining source code and deploying applications via various technologies such as CVS, Source Safe and IIS, Apache, Tomcat, Websphere, to name a few.
